Church minutes on the "New Age" movement
1988 B.B. Min. 203
11. Adopt the Statement “The Real Facts About AIDS” published by Christian Medical Fellowship of Australia, as representing the views of the General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church of Queensland.
1989 B.B. Min. 279
17. (a) Re-affirm the resolution of the Commission of Assembly interalia:
“That the Assembly be opposed to the distribution of clean needles on the pretence that it would lessen the chance of contracting A.I.D.S., because it would not only be seen to be abetting the use of illicit drugs, but in fact would do so”.
(b) Advise the Premier, Minister for Health, Leader of the Opposition, and Media accordingly.
1989 B.B. Min. 279
26. (a) Affirm that:
(i) The living, active, knowing presence of the One true and living God (Father Son and Holy Spirit) whose commands and precepts in the 66 canonical books of the Christian Scriptures are the duty of every person (without any exception) to obey with love.
(ii) This is irrespective of whether a person believes, likes or has any other attitude about the existence or person of the God of the Scriptures.
(iii) No person who ever has been, is or shall be created is excepted from this duty to love and obey.
(b) Affirm that all homosexual practice is an utter defiling abomination before the holiness and goodness of God, never in any circumstances to be justified.
(c) Affirm that to accept homosexual practice (even de facto) as a positive factor in immigration policy is a sin that the Church of Jesus Christ must publicly condemn and from which it should dissociate itself.
(d) Write to the Prime Minister and the Federal Minister for Health, re-affirming that this Assembly believes the only true solution to the problem of sexually transmitted diseases, including A.I.D.S., is for each individual and the nation as a whole to uphold the Biblical standard of heterosexual chastity before marriage and heterosexual fidelity within marriage to the exclusion of all other sexual practices and preferences.
(e) Encourage Ministers and Elders to minister to A.I.D.S. sufferers with sensitivity and compassion, endeavouring to present newness of life through the Lord Jesus Christ.
27. Advise the Prime Minister, the Minister for Immigration, Leader of the Oppositon and the Media of the above affirmation; and the total opposition of the Assembly to homosexuality (including lesbianism) as a legitimate alternative lifestyle.
(1990) B.B. Min. 241
3. Adopt the Statement, ‘The Medical Facts About A.I.D.S. and the Safe Alternative’. (October 1989), published by the Christian Medical Fellowship of Australia, as a useful guide upon the subject of A.I.D.S.
